Misdirection, Stan!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Assalamualaikum,
Man, things have gotten FUBAR for me, who knows getting a scholarship is THIS difficult. With all this frustration swelling up inside, it is difficult to think about love or even give an opinion about it. If someone asks me about love at this current state of mind, most probably I will say something like" Love does not exist, hatred rules! Hatred is stronger than love.", than I will obtain the Magenkyou Sharingan and massacre my entire village. But we live in a world where there is no Magenkyou Sharingan, and yes, there also rules against massacring your entire village. Hence what should you do?

"How did Houdini do it? Misdirection, Stan!"-John Travolta,Swordfish

Misdirection. Do not be confused misdirection with the act of being a hyprocrite. Being hypocritical meaning saying  that you will do statement A but currently doing statement B. Whereas, misdirection is saying about statement A while implying that you might be doing statement A.Huge difference there. Totally huge…

Conclusion, misdirection is an essential component of social relations. This statement alone is a misdirection. :p

Alumni SRK Sri Subang Jaya

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Assalamualaikum,

Puan Tee( a teacher from Sri Subang Jaya) contacted me recently and sort-of asked me to gather a few people to be the ‘pioneer’ Alumni of Sri Subang Jaya. Me, as much as a lazy bum who loves to waste time, I just couldn’t say no to her.( I am a such a nice guy). Ergo, I’ve created a Friendster group for the Alumni(please access it under my profile, thank you) as a means of communication. Therefore, I hope that you guys can show some support and help make our primary school Alumni a success. It is still in its infant stage and the meeting with the school will most probably begin sometime after the school holidays.

A person who knows me for a long time would be skeptical on why I would be doing this kind of activity. Furthermore, I don’t really strike to be the type that "cinta-kepada-sekolah" kind of guy. What can I say man, I am just a nice guy..:p

So, if you are interested in becoming an alumni, please PM your details to me( name, standard 6 class, year graduated from Sri Subang) and join the Friendster’s Alumni Srk Sri Subang group. If you think that Friendster PM-ing is an invasion of privacy , you can mail me your details at: srkssj_alumni@yahoo.com.

"If you guys want Puan Tee hp(to catch up with your favourite teacher..hehehe) , just PM me. And, if you want to help out with anything or any enquiries, again just PM me or contact me at the above mail address."-Corie "Light" Yagami

Triple Threat: PS3 vs X360 vs Wii

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Video Gaming have always been a hobby of mine since I was 6. It started from the Atari(forgot the exact number), then Mega Drive, moving to Saturn, migrating to Playstation, shifting to Dreamcast and finally settling down with Playstation 2. There was even one point in life where gaming is my life. That shows how hardcore I was. However, I’ve began to lose interest a bit in gaming due to…other stuff. Nevertheless, I still have my gaming fix which is at least 3 hours per week. Current game: Rogue Galaxy.

One main reason of me not buying these new batches of console(PS3, Wii,X360) is that there are no strong sofware support…yet. Look at X360, it’s out for almost 2 years, but the really outstanding games(IMO) is Gears of War and Oblivion. I’ve played both of these games, and the experience in GOW is unparallel ,however, these 2 games does not warrant a X360 purchase. The PS3 and Wii on the other hand, is too early judge in terms of software lineup. PS3 is too bloody expensive and the fact tht it uses Blu-Ray will really hurt the Malaysian consumer(no pirate maa..for now) and Wii’s graphic aren’t that impressive to boot(more like last gen).

According to facts, Wii is currently the dominant console in America and Japan, and as history has proven itself, the life and death of a system depends on their success in Japan, because most of the main software developers are from Japan. US Market analysis has stated( somewhere in EGM, forgotten which month) that eventhough the current console winner is Wii, however, in the long run(around 3 years), PS3 will outshine the Wii. I believe this is true, because of the vast graphical difference between Wii and PS3. It is true that gameplay is the major factor that determines whether a game is good or not, but, the graphics of the console that determines the lasting power of a console. Well, not exactly graphics…graphics and sales actually. Nevertheless, graphics is the more dominant factor. Why else do we need to upgrade from the MegaDrive(16-bit) to the Saturn(32-bit) if it wasn’t for the graphics right? Supposedly, with superior graphics , the advancement of the gameplay should be unprecedented.

On the other hand, the main contributing factor to a success of a console is..the piracy factor. Without pirated games, the console wouldn’t take off. It is sad actually, but , if you compare a RM200++ price tag for original game and a RM14 price tag for a pirated one, the sadness diminishes. For the average-income masses, they would choose to buy the pirated copies, because they can’t afford the original copy., too bloody expensive .If a single original game would cost RM50,then only the average-income masses would CONSIDER buying it. Therefore, my advice to those who are buying the current gen system is this: if you have patience, wait for another year and see how things might turn out. This is because the Wii and PS3 are still in their infant stage. But, if you lack patience, then, consider only between the Wii and X360. Currently, the software line up for X360 is the strongest, followed closely by Wii. Plus, it is more affordable(RM1300++ range) and there are pirated games available(yay!). As for me, I am taking a back seat for a year.

"By the way, I do not condone piracy or any act of piracy. Please buy
original softwares and give your support to the developers..if you can
afford it. :p "- Corie "Light" Yagami

Aqiqah

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

Last Saturday, I have attended an aqiqah ceremony. Although, I have attended a few aqiqah ceremonies, however, the fact is that I’ve never really participated in one. So, this time, I have participated in the "Potong Jambul" ceremony. Terasa agak kekok juga, kali pertama memotong jambul. Tambahan,
dengan tiada pengetahuan berkenaan protokol-protokol yang perlu
diikuti, maka nampaklah kejahilan saya dengan lebih akrab lagi.
Anyway, it was a good first experience.

To my good friend, Abdul Muhaimin, who is about to become a father somewhere in September, congratulations yet again. I am totally flabbergasted. My ex-roomate will become a father soon, wow..I am speechless. I am honestly happy for you yet absolutely sad for myself. May God bless you.

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
"Which road do I take?"she asked.
His response was a question:"Where do you want to go?"
"I don’t know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn’t matter."

Phoenix Down needed!

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

Assalamualaikum,

It has been a while since I’ve last updated this blog. Can’t really say that I am busy, therefore, the only dominant reason is that I don’t feel like writing anything. But as I am enjoying my 6 months off(what a bum!) from blogging, I can feel that slowly, discrepancies began to surface within myself. Not only, my command of English began to deteriorate given the current working condition that I am in, a lot of problems regarding my scholarship also resurfaces. But today, I shall not venture into the art of writing about my dissatisfaction of life over the internet which will not make any impact on improving my current dire situation which everyone knows that rambling on the internet is like farting in the wind.

Today, I shall clarify the reason why I start blogging in the first place. Easy, it is because that I have to get things of my chest or else I’ll combust. In short, it is because of a girl and..rambling on the internet(not touching about the girl problem at all) sort of gives me relief in a psychotic-nihillistic-Corie "Light" Yagami-kind of way. I shall not  mention her name as  it will violate our client-customer regulation.

Besides,  my transition to the dark side is now complete, *evil laughs with crackling thunder sound in the background*. In the future, I shall give my immaculate insights on the current gen console war; PS3vs X360vs Wii; right after I nab myself one of them. :) . Final words; Death Note anime is pure awesomeness.
